Returning Turtles! The Adopt-A-Turtle Program

Support the Savannah Science Museum, Inc.'s Caretta Research Project by adopting a loggerhead sea turtle, nest or hatchling. They make wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and other special occasions. Adopt one of the selected loggerhead sea turtles that has nested in previous years on Wassaw Island and was last seen during the 2007 or 2008 season. Since loggerheads typically have a 2 to 4 year nesting cycle, we expect that these individuals may return to Wassaw to nest during 2010.

During the summer, you can log onto this website and track "your" adopted turtle's nesting activity during the upcoming nesting season!

How do you adopt a turtle? Simply send a $25 donation to the Caretta Research Project. You'll receive

  • A list of adoptees and an adoption form
  • Our semi-annual newsletter
  • A Caretta Research Project bumper sticker

Mail your check and contact information to:
