We provide a number of updates for our interested friends and colleagues, including our Facebook page and data on nesting, hatching, and the adopt-a-turtle program.
We had a record year this season - 165 nests were deposited on Wassaw Island this year, breaking last year's record of 159 nests! We identified 95 individual turtles on Wassaw. Sixty of these turtles were neophytes, which means they had never been tagged before. Twenty-seven turtles were remigrants, which means that they were original tagged on Wassaw during previous nesting seasons and this year they returned to nest. Six turtles were tagged on other islands and 2 had tag scars, but no history could be determined.
